#MariaGraziaChiuri s inspirations for Cruise 2018 are the Motherpeace tarot by Vicki Noble and Karen Vogel. The two artists work forms a unique dialogue with our Artistic Director s feminist message. Recalling the wisdom of ancient cultures, incorporating images in which women are leaders, these cards communicate a message to reach beyond the limitations of gender, age, race and class. From her reading of Vicki Noble s book Shakti Woman came the discovery of the Motherpeace tarot deck the author co-created with Karen Vogel. Vicki wrote that women have to be in contact with their real nature, not let others define us. We have to work so we can define ourselves alone, and that was very interesting for me, said #MariaGraziaChiuri. That message echoed her Spring-Summer 2017 We Should All be Feminists statement t-shirt drawn from Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie s essay, which Vicki Noble was also using in her recent collages.

The wind rose accompanied Christian Dior throughout his life, from his childhood in Granville, Normandy where the motif had prime placements in the family house and garden. Behind this symbol of adventure and travel lies the rose, the couturier's favourite flower, but also the star, the good luck charm that stayed with him always, as reinterpreted here in a collection of jewelry and a watch designed by Dior Joaillerie Creative Director @VictoiredeCastellane.

Throughout his life, Christian Dior retained the happy memory of long hours spent as a child in the rose garden of the family home in Granville. It was there that he developed his unconditional love of flowers, notably the rose. Drawing inspiration from the flower s form and natural elegance, @VictoiredeCastellane transformed this House symbol into captivating jewels twinkling with diamonds, pink sapphires and tsavorite for the Rose Dior Bagatelle collection!
